Course Debriefing
In this Leading Edge Certification course, you have learned, explored, and applied how to effectively utilize technology tools, resources and innovative solutions to advance student achievement, foster educator productivity and extend learning opportunities for all.
In Pedagogy, you began by examining pedagogies heavily woven throughout Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that showcase the intersection between pedagogy, content and technology to further explore what an effective Digital Educator looks like. You created a lesson for your students that began with a Common Core standard, infused an element of PBL, and utilized a technology that supports both the content and the instructional method.
Next, in Digital Literacy & Citizenship, you explored digital citizenship, explored the main topics and skills students should learn, and learned how to teach students to be safe, responsible, and respectful participants in our digital world. You also reflected on your responsibility as a teacher to model best practices in digital citizenship.
Through Data Literacy, you examined a wide range of data interpretations, how it's perceived in your local school or district and innovative ways to view data and share it with all school stakeholders. You also created a data visualization on your topic of interest.
In Curation & Creation, you explored how educators can become facilitators and increase student learning for real life situations to authentic audiences. You also examined uses and strategies of media in the classroom and curating open educational resources (OER) and creation tools. You also created an educational webmix or bookmarking page centered around the curriculum topic of your choice.
In Communication & Collaboration, you gained an understanding of collaboration as it occurs in all of its varying contexts in schools. You also reviewed basic communication skills that form collaborative interaction and ways to facilitate or inhibit communication when engaging in a collaborative dialogue, and you addressed group dynamics.
Lastly in Learning Environments, you explored the potential benefits and pitfalls of certain learning environments and how an educator can effectively utilize one's current learning environment to best help students achieve. You also created what you believe to be the optimal learning environment based on your pedagogical philosophy and dream technologies.
